Abduction of a 9-year-old boy in Białołęka: police negotiator testifies in court

At the Warsaw-Praga District Court the trial in the case of Pavlo R. continues. According to investigators, on 21 December last year, after a quarrel with his ex-partner, he took her 9-year-old son from their home on Trakt Nadwiślański Street and for several hours held him on a green area by Obrazkowa Street, threatened him with death and wounded him in the neck with a knife.

On Wednesday testimony was given by the police officer who negotiated with the defendant from a distance of a few metres. According to him, the man kept the knife at the child's neck the whole time and repeated several times that “no one will leave here alive”. The boy was released late in the evening.

The charges include abduction of a child, hostage-taking, threats and violence against the ex-partner. At the first hearing the defendant did not admit guilt of attempted murder and said he only wanted to talk to his ex-partner. There is no verdict yet.
