GUS: average wage in the enterprise sector in September was 9,266.48 zł gross, up 5.9% year on year

According to GUS, the average gross wage in the enterprise sector rose 5.9% year on year in September 2026 to 9,266.48 zł. The PAP Biznes consensus had expected growth of 6.1% and a 0.8% decline in employment.

Economists at Bank Pekao attribute the acceleration mainly to two sectors: trade, where wages grew by more than 7% a year in July and September (figures last seen in early 2025), and forestry, where the numbers were affected by bonuses and possible pay rises in recent months. They forecast wage growth of around 6% for 2026.

Erste Bank Polska economist Bartosz Białas expects wage growth to slow slightly but to stay just above 5% year on year throughout 2027. ING Bank Śląski economist Leszek Kąsek notes that elevated inflation, linked among other things to energy prices, is not feeding through into wage growth.
