On Saturday, 10 October, as on every 10th day of the month, supporters of Law and Justice laid flowers at the monument to the victims of the 2010 Smolensk crash on Piłsudski Square in Warsaw. The party leader Jarosław Kaczyński then spoke.
During his speech opponents tried to drown out the speaker and called him a “liar”. Kaczyński said that those who disrupt religious ceremonies are not isolated by anyone, and called what is happening a fierce struggle against memory. He also said that Russian criminals, as he put it, have allies here who gather every week with the connivance of the police.
According to Fakt, a dispute arose during the event: a man from the counter-protest covered a banner and did not want to move away. Antoni Macierewicz went up to him, and a scuffle broke out between them.
