President Karol Nawrocki has again sent Prime Minister Donald Tusk the decree appointing four members of the board of the National Bank of Poland (NBP) for countersignature, the head of the president's office Paweł Szefernaker said on social media. He argued that the stability of the Polish economy requires a decision that rejects the logic of political war, adding that everything is now in the prime minister's hands.

The nominees are Marta Kightley, Przemysław Litwiniuk, Ludwik Kotecki and Marcin Zarzecki. Kightley sat on the NBP board from 2020; her term expired in March this year. Kotecki and Litwiniuk have been members of the Monetary Policy Council (RPP) since 2022, appointed by the Senate; Zarzecki was appointed to the RPP by the president in December 2025.

In May the NBP said Tusk had returned the decrees appointing the same four people without his countersignature. By law, board members are appointed by the president at the request of the NBP governor, but under the constitution such an act requires the prime minister's signature.

The NBP board, including governor Adam Glapiński, now has seven members; the law provides for the governor and six to eight members. If in November the term of deputy governor Adam Lipiński is not extended and no replacement is appointed, the board could fall below the statutory minimum.
