On Thursday, 22 October 2026, police begin nationwide checks of vehicle lighting — the 11th “Twoje Światła – Nasze Bezpieczeństwo” (Your Lights – Our Safety) campaign. Traffic police officers will check headlight alignment, whether the lights are working and whether installed LED bulbs are legal. The campaign runs until 10 December.

Faults carry a fine — depending on the offence, up to 3000 zł — and if the vehicle's condition endangers safety, the officer may seize the registration certificate; for cars registered in Poland this is usually done electronically, via the Central Vehicle Register. No new fines are being introduced on 22 October — police are applying rules already in force.

According to the Motor Transport Institute (ITS), 98% of surveyed drivers said they are dazzled by other cars; the causes include incorrectly aligned headlights and bulbs that do not match the lamp design. Four days of free light checks are planned as part of the campaign.
