Czech Skoda, Korean Hyundai and Polish Pesa have submitted bids in the tender for 62 low-floor bidirectional trams for Warsaw, tvn24.pl reports. This is a repeat procedure: the results of the previous tender were challenged and no supplier could be selected.
The contract covers 62 trams 30–33 metres long. The guaranteed part of the order, secured by KPO funding, includes 20 vehicles.
The new trams must be low-floor, with pivoting bogies, 42 seats, USB chargers, an anti-collision system and driver assistance. Each side must have at least five pairs of double doors. The number of sections will be proposed by the manufacturer.
Tramwaje Warszawskie reserved 369 million zlotys gross for the order. The bids: Skoda over 421 million zl, Pesa over 493 million, Hyundai over 636 million. None fits the budget.
