The rebuilding of Warsaw Wschodnia station is being postponed. PKP PLK no longer expects to start work in December 2026, as previously planned. The start is now being considered after the Christmas and New Year holidays, most likely in January 2027. The exact date has not yet been confirmed.

The works will affect Warsaw Wschodnia station and the Warszawa Stadion stop, as well as a key section of the Warsaw cross-city line (linia srednicowa). The modernisation will bring major changes to long-distance and regional train services: some trains will bypass Warsaw Central, while others will end their journey at a different station.

According to Marcin Mochocki, a PKP PLK board member responsible for the investment, preparations are on schedule, as is the design work. Talks are under way with rail operators and Warsaw authorities on how traffic will be organised. PKP PLK want to start before the March timetable change, and an additional timetable may be needed. Passengers will be informed of the changes in advance.
