17-year-old author of “bloody Friday” video detained in Przasnysz

On Thursday, 8 October, a video threatening an attack on a school spread on social media and messengers in Przasnysz (Masovian Voivodeship). The author threatened pupils of the general lyceum named after the Commission of National Education and hinted that the threat might concern not just one school. The video also included threats against a specific person.

Police detained a 17-year-old resident of the Przasnysz powiat, the probable author of the recording. Investigators have so far reported nothing confirming preparation of a real attack: they are establishing how and why the video appeared and how it spread. Whether charges will be brought is not yet known.

Schools are asked not to forward unverified messages but to pass recordings with threats to the school or the police.

Chief of Police Marek Boroń told Polsat News that the attacks at schools are a new kind of threat: in his words, young people are radicalising online.
