Prime Minister Donald Tusk said he signed on Tuesday a request to President Karol Nawrocki to appoint Finance and Economy Minister Andrzej Domański as deputy prime minister. He announced it on Wednesday morning at a briefing before flying to India.
A day earlier the Sejm rejected a no-confidence motion against Domański filed by PiS. After the vote, Tusk said he would ask the president to promote him. Domański called the proposal a huge distinction and a commitment he accepts.
Do not ask me how President Nawrocki will behave, Tusk said. He added that he does not think the president openly wants to break the constitution, but if such a decision were taken, the scenario would be very risky and needlessly risky for Poland.
The head of the president's cabinet, Paweł Szefernaker, called the proposal a mockery of Poles. In a post on X he wrote that the state is getting deeper into debt, high prices hit Poles' wallets, and Poland received a worse credit rating for the first time in 24 years.
