The Łódź-Śródmieście District Court remanded in custody former Orlen vice-president Michał R. and three of the company's directors in the case of unjustified fuel price cuts before the 2023 elections. Custody will be replaced by a non-custodial measure if they post bail of 500,000 to 1 million zloty.
Three must post bail by 17 October; for the largest, 1 million zloty, the deadline is 21 October. Three were remanded for two months, one for three.
The court cited a high probability that the suspects committed the acts attributed to them and a risk of pressure on the investigation. “Custody is not a punishment,” court spokesman Grzegorz Gała stressed.
