According to a flash estimate by Statistics Poland (GUS), in September the prices of electricity, gas and other fuels rose 0.9% compared with August. Year on year, the increase was 4.9%. Overall inflation in September, according to the same estimate, was 4% year on year and 0.7% month on month. Energy is getting more expensive faster than the consumer basket as a whole.
The data refer to prices, not to individual bills. The outlet calculated that with energy spending of 1,000 zloty a month, the year-on-year difference would be 49 zloty a month; if such a burden lasted 12 months, that would be 588 zloty. This is a calculation scenario, not a forecast: the final amount depends on each household's consumption and tariffs.
