Paramount to make a film set in the universe of the Polish game Cyberpunk 2077

Paramount Pictures is working on a film in the Cyberpunk universe based on the game by the Polish studio CD Projekt RED, Deadline reported. The information was confirmed on X by one of CD Projekt's joint CEOs, Michał Nowakowski: according to him, the studio will share details in due course.

The film will be produced together with the developer by Lorenzo di Bonaventura, producer of the Transformers and G.I. Joe film series. The screenwriter, director and cast have not yet been named.

CD Projekt RED first announced work on a live-action adaptation in October 2023; the project was held up by the screenwriters' strike in Hollywood. On 20 October the second season of the anime series “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” will be released, with 10 episodes.

In July 2026 the studio said it had sold 40 million copies of Cyberpunk 2077, and 15 million of the “Phantom Liberty” expansion.
