Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote on Sunday on social media, including X, that Poland will not repeat the mistakes of other European states and will not pay for them. On security, he said, the government will be ruthless.
He wrote that Poland firmly defends its border against illegal migration, has its own asylum policy and does not accept applications, and deports those who break Polish law. Tusk added that this is what Europe's leaders heard from him in Brussels.
On Friday the prime minister returned from Brussels, where he took part in the EU summit. On Wednesday he met the leaders of the Visegrad Group, on Thursday the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola and, on the sidelines of the summit, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. On Friday, at the invitation of the heads of government of Italy, Denmark and the Netherlands, he attended an informal meeting on migration.
On Saturday hundreds of thousands of people in France demonstrated against the rising cost of living; in major cities, including Paris, there were attacks on public buildings and looting.
