Interior Minister Kierwiński: police checked 15,000 schools, 19 people detained

Police have already checked 15,000 educational institutions, and 24,000 officers are taking part in operations across the country, Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński said. Nineteen people have been detained. The morning tally was more than 10,000 institutions and 10 detainees.

According to the minister, there is so far nothing to indicate that the threats and videos were part of one organised action by teenagers. The Central Bureau for Combating Cybercrime does not confirm the existence of a “challenge” called “bloody Friday”.

Mazovian education superintendent Wioletta Krzyżanowska said that 49 schools in the voivodeship were closed on Friday. Warsaw did not recommend cancelling lessons: only pupils and staff are let into the buildings.
