Lithuanian Prime Minister Mindaugas Sinkevičius and Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk held a joint press conference. The Lithuanian prime minister said the talks focused mainly on security in the region: Lithuania is NATO's eastern flank and is experiencing a great many hybrid attacks. In his words, Russia remains the main threat, and hybrid actions are becoming ever more aggressive and affect not only Lithuania and Poland but also Germany and other European countries. He thanked Poland for its contribution to regional security, including its role in defending the airspace of the Baltic states and joint exercises.
Tusk noted that energy security matters for protecting states, cities and factories, and called Polish-Lithuanian cooperation in this area exemplary. The prime ministers confirmed the Harmony Link and LitPol Link projects, which, according to Sinkevičius, will help businesses and improve energy security.
Tusk said the war in Ukraine may be decided within the next several or perhaps a dozen or so months, so Europe must not give up its tools of pressure on Russia. In his view, strengthening rather than weakening sanctions should be considered now. Neither Lithuania, nor Poland, nor Ukraine will allow themselves to be intimidated, the prime minister said.
