President Karol Nawrocki expressed condolences to the family of the school employee killed in the attack in Leszczydół-Nowiny and wished the injured a speedy recovery. “The Polish school must be a safe place — for pupils, teachers and all employees,” he wrote on social media. According to him, in the face of such tragedies “there is no room for using human drama for political attacks”.
The head of the National Security Bureau, Bartosz Grodecki, spoke in the same spirit: responsibility for safety in schools and on the streets, he said, lies with the government, which has all the tools.
This is a response to the words of Donald Tusk. The prime minister said the attacker in Leszczydół-Nowiny had a helmet with a camera, and stated that if it had come to a broadcast, the government would not have been able to remove it: in January Nawrocki vetoed the law implementing the European Digital Services Act.
Grodecki objected that the president did sign the digital services law. After the January veto the government split the implementation into two laws: Nawrocki signed the first at the end of September, and the second, on blocking content, the Sejm passed on Thursday evening.
