Monetary Policy Council member Ludwik Kotecki told PAP that the situation around the National Bank of Poland is unprecedented, but the bank will not stop working without its head. On Friday the Sejm Committee on Constitutional Responsibility adopted a report on a preliminary motion to bring NBP head Adam Glapiński before the State Tribunal.

According to Kotecki, the Council can work without hindrance as long as the chair can convene a meeting and take part in it. If there is no chair, a meeting will be held by one of the Council members: Ireneusz Dąbrowski is currently designated for this case. The NBP vice-president takes part in meetings only in an advisory capacity.

Kotecki recalled that after the Smolensk crash there was also no NBP head, and the bank's first vice-president convened the meetings then. There is currently no first vice-president, and the second vice-president's term ends in November, so the situation is more complicated.
