Food prices rising again: basic basket of 14 items costs 96.06 zł, the highest since late July

According to an analysis of real receipts from the PanParagon app, the average cost of 14 basic food items has reached 96.06 zł, the highest since late July 2026. The basket rose by 2.24 zł in a week. A year ago the same set cost 95.90 zł: the months-long trend of food prices being lower or flat year on year has been broken. Experts link this to the recent rise in fuel prices, which feeds through into logistics costs with a delay.

Red peppers rose the most over seven days, by 11.1% to above 12 zł per kilogram; rapeseed oil added almost 10% and potatoes almost 9%. Sugar, butter and chicken fillet became slightly cheaper; milk and kaiser rolls were unchanged.

Surveys show the rising cost of living is the main source of stress: 40.7% of respondents named the jump in food and everyday shopping prices as their biggest worry, 39.2% cited rising electricity and heating bills ahead of winter, and 34.3% problems with access to public healthcare.
