Series “Zmora”, based on Robert Małecki's novel, released on HBO Max

On 2 October the Polish crime series of the same name, based on Robert Małecki's 2021 novel, was released on HBO Max. The heroine is journalist Kama Kosowska, played by Magdalena Cielecka. In the story she returns to Toruń after events that forced her to part with her previous job.

The police officer who deals with cold cases from past years is played by Piotr Żurawski. According to the actor, his character does not work like the typical police officers in crime stories: he has to get to the long-standing “nightmares”, ask difficult questions and get at the truth.

Małecki says the book is about the past: school years, violence from peers and relationships that last a lifetime. He likes the screen interpretation of the heroine, although in the book she is an unfulfilled journalist.
